Marilyn Monroe's Los Angeles home is for sale for $6.9 million, and it's pretty significant considering this is the home she passed away in. The icon was discovered lying facedown on her bed holding a phone, and died of an apparent overdose.
The hacienda where the incident took place is located in L.A.'s Brentwood neighborhood, and is a modest (for a celebrity) villa with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a pool, and a casual citrus grove.
Monroe bought the property just a few months before her death, and told , "Anybody who likes my house, I'm sure I'll get along with."
Life associate editor Richard Meryman described it as "The first home entirely her own she had ever had," and said "She exulted in it. On a special trip to Mexico she had carefully searched in roadside stands and shops and even factories to find just the right things to put in it. The large items had not arrived—nor was she ever to see them installed."
Monroe died on August 5, 1962.
