There are pros and cons of being the Queen of England, but one of the supreme advantages is...never having to break in new shoes. Reports have reemerged that the monarch employs someone to wear her shoes until they're comfortable. reports that the royal household recently hired a newcomer to the role.
The reports echo 2012 comments made by Stewart Palvin, who designed the Queen's wardrobe for 11 years. He said that a member of staff wears the Queen's new shoes with a pair of beige cotton ankle socks on the carpet so she doesn't have to suffer the cruel indignity of having a blister.
"The shoes have to be immediately comfortable…she does get someone to wear them," Palvin told the Sunday Times. "The Queen can never say 'I'm uncomfortable, I can't walk any more.' She has the right to have someone wear them in." Well, at least they're never wedges.
